Meta gave the Quest 3 and 3S modular designs to easily install accessories, which is a double-edged sword. You can add more comfortable straps, double your battery, add lens inserts with your prescription, make the controllers easier to grip, and other useful mods; the downside is that if you use Meta's official accessories, all this could double the price of the headset, too.

Why bring up both the Meta Quest 3 and Meta Quest 3S? Because Meta designed them so that most of their accessories are interchangeable. This guide was originally written for the Quest 3 alone, but nearly all of our picks work for the Quest 3S, and we'll specify those that don't.

You can read our Quest 3S accessory guide to see exactly which Quest 2 or Quest 3 accessories work with the new headset. Generally speaking, Meta Quest 3 Elite Straps, controller straps, cases, USB-C headphones, and Link cables will work with the Meta Quest 3S, but Quest 3 facial interfaces, lens inserts, charging docks, or 3.5mm headphones won't work on the Quest 3S.

Otherwise, this guide will highlight our favorites for each major Quest accessory category, from Elite Straps with Battery and Link cables to USB-C headphones and lens inserts. I've focused on the best Meta Quest 3 accessories from trusted third-party makers like BoboVR and AMVR that work as well as Meta's, but for significantly less!

BoboVR has been making many people's favorite Quest 2 head straps for a few years, and now that product has been upgraded for the Meta Quest 3. This replaces the flimsy cloth strap that ships with the Quest 3 and makes it much more comfortable to wear.

To start with, the BoboVR M3 Pro shakes things up by taking all the weight off your face and evenly distributing it between your forehead and occipital bone. That makes it far more comfortable to wear it for long periods of time, and it also means you can wear your Quest 3 without the face pad if you so wish.

Extra comfort serves a double purpose since the BoboVR M3 Pro ships with a rechargeable, magnetically-detachable battery pack that can be hot-swapped at any time. Each pack adds about 2 hours to the Quest 3's battery life, meaning you can play for hours at a time without worrying about low battery notifications.

AMVR's Touch Plus controller grips are good enough that you'd assume they were official accessories — while charging half of what Meta's official Active Straps cost.

Like the company's Quest 2 grips, these Quest 3 & 3S grips feature a clever battery slot so you can swap out low batteries without having to take the grips off the controller. Plus, AMVR is one of the only companies making grips that didn't cover up that lower tracking LED near the base, so these won't negatively affect tracking quality at all.

The extra soft material not only adds grip to the Touch Plus controllers but it's got a nice powdery finish, helping to ward against sweaty hands. And who could forget about those fantastic hand grips that make it possible to throw things in VR without throwing the controllers?

Plus, they work as an excellent counterweight to better stabilize the smaller controllers in your hands. It's a win, win, win all around.

Works with Quest 3 and Quest 3S

While we recommend the BoboVR M3 VR for its comfort upgrade and its battery boost, it's fairly pricey and sometimes goes out of stock. If you need a more affordable alternative, the ZyberVR head strap is the one to beat, solely from a comfort standpoint. You'll just have to accept the Quest 3's 2-hour battery or the Quest 3S' 2.5-hour battery.

Instead of just a back knob for better security and a thicker top strap for support, Zybervr put extra thought into the design by putting the back TPU portion higher on the back of your head and pointing the strap downward towards a hinge, so gravity pushes it onto your head instead of off it.

You can also adjust the angle of the front portion to make sure your eyes have the perfect angle for a clear view, using a rotation button to make adjustments on the fly. Having tested it for ourselves, we're really happy with the overall experience and highly recommend it.

Quest 3 only

The plush facial interface that ships with the Meta Quest 3 feels great on the skin but has some issues. One, it's cloth, so it absorbs sweat if you're more of an active Quest gamer. Two, we've noticed a significant ventilation issue, leading to foggy lenses.

You can solve the first problem with an inexpensive silicone cover — the APEXINNO silicone face cover costs less than $10 and works well — but to solve the second, you need to replace the facial interface entirely. That's not difficult on the modular Quest 3, but you need the right interface to make it worth your time. Enter AMVR's facial interface.

Its PU leather is very soft, cool, comfortable, and sweat-wicking, a great pairing option with a new Elite strap like the Bobovr or Zybervr. More importantly, the ventilation along the edges gives you a pretty adequate countermeasure against lens fog, even if it doesn't fully remove it like the Quest 2 Kiwi interface did. We hope Kiwi Design makes a Quest 3 version soon, but the AMVR option is the best we have for now.

Another benefit to AMVR's option is that it makes the headset backwards compatible with your old Quest 2 silicone face covers, which don't fit the Quest 3 interface easily. The default AMVR cover attaches with velcro, making it easy to remove, clean, and reattach.

We hope AMVR will release a unique Quest 3S facial replacement; for now, we can only point you to the official Breathable Facial Interface.

Some products are nearly impossible to improve upon. Plus, PrismXR was thoughtful enough to include a USB-C passthrough port on the dongle so you can still use your battery head strap and the earbuds at the same time. The best Quest 2 earphones, the Soundcore VR P10, charge at a slower rate but PrismXR Vega T1 will charge your Quest 3 or 3S at the full 27W rate when plugged into a battery or a head strap like the BoboVR M3 Pro.

Since Meta eliminated the 3.5mm headphone jack on the Quest 3S, a USB-C passthrough dongle is the only way to have private audio while gaming, making the PrismXR Vega T1 a near-necessity if you don't want to annoy loved ones or roommates.

Syntech's Meta Quest Link cable is one of the highest-rated cables on Amazon, and I've used it long enough to confirm that it's a quality product. The standard 16ft (5m) length cable is plenty long for most setups, as it'll let you walk around your room quite a bit before running out of slack. But, if that's not enough, Syntech sells several longer lengths that might work better for your personal setup.

While the official Quest Link cable from Meta is far more expensive and only supports a USB-C to USB-C connection, this cable is a fraction of the price and has a USB-A port on the PC end, granting compatibility with a wider range of systems. Some PCs have plenty of USB-C ports but USB-A ports often go unused these days thanks to the proliferation of USB-C peripherals.

In addition to being well-built, this cable has a great data transfer rate and provides plenty of power to keep the headset powered while playing PCVR games. That's important because lots of cables don't provide enough power to the headset, causing it to slowly discharge over long play sessions.

But note that the performance and wattage output depend entirely on your PC. If your ports don't support USB 3.1 or won't output the full 18W (9v/2a), you won't be able to take full advantage of this cable's abilities. Still, having a cable can be one of the simplest ways to get into PCVR with a Meta Quest 3 or 3S headset.

KIWI Design's carrying case is made for the Meta Quest 3, 3S, or 2 (and even the Vision Pro). It'll perfectly fit whichever headset you buy and its Touch Plus controllers, with plenty of room to spare. Yes, that even includes some of those bulkier battery head straps that take up more room!

KIWI's case looks absolutely fantastic on the outside, and it's built well, to boot, keeping your Quest 3 & 3S protected even if you accidentally drop the case. It's got dedicated spots for the controllers right in the middle and even includes a handy lens protective cover so rogue accessories can't scratch up those precious lenses.

There's also additional storage inside for extra accessories like cables and batteries, making this a fantastic deal. Since it has plenty of room, it almost encourages you to buy a fancier strap than Meta's default cloth one. If you'd rather stick with the smaller head straps, grab this super compact VORI Quest 3 carrying case, instead.

The Meta Quest 3's improved facial interface can be easily adjusted to fit many different types of prescription glasses, but using that has some major downsides. And with the Quest 3S, you'll likely need some kind of spacer. Either way, you're forced to keep the lenses further away from your face, reducing your field of vision while gaming.

Ditch the hassle and grab these inexpensive prescription lenses built for the Quest 3 or Quest 3S, instead! These lens filters pop directly onto your headset lenses and can be removed when sharing the headset with others. Since they're made-to-order, they fit your prescription perfectly and make using the headset far nicer than using your glasses.

Plus, they're water and scratch-resistant, have an anti-glare coating, and are endorsed by Meta for official compatibility. Just make sure that you choose the right lenses to match your headset: the Quest 3S and Quest 3 lenses aren't interchangeable.

Browsing Amazon for the best Quest 3 accessories can lead to a lot of confusion. Lots of unknown brands make similar-looking products and often are only differentiated by price. When in doubt, we recommend sticking to a few tried-and-true brand names: KIWI Design, AMVR, BoboVR, and Zyber.

These four companies have all proven that they can regularly make excellent products that stand on their own and offer better quality and unique features. Ironically, all of them seem to do a better job of making Quest 3 & 3S accessories than Meta itself, as most of Meta's accessories are either overpriced or poorly made.

When looking for a Quest 3 or 3S head strap, you'll find they generally come in two styles: elite or halo. Elite-style straps are similar to the official Meta Elite Strap product but the ones we recommend from Zyber and KIWI Design sport a higher quality plastic and more features. Halo-style straps are similar to the PlayStation VR which used a thick forehead pad to offset the headset weight from the face.

We recommend everyone get a headstrap with a battery to ensure longer play sessions, but not everyone wants the added weight of an extra battery. Know that the BoboVR straps come with removable batteries which make it the best choice no matter what your needs are.

Controller straps are all fairly similar in shape and design because the smaller Quest 3 & 3S Touch Plus controllers don't offer manufacturers as many style options as the Quest 2. As such, simplest is usually best which is why we recommend both of AMVR's styles. These add a strap that goes around the back of your hand, helping to offset the weight of the controller and also serving to keep it from flying across the room if you let go.

My personal favorite are the regular AMVR controller grips, which swap out the battery door with a handy strap and don't add any extra bulk. Some folks might prefer the added grip of the silicone AMVR upgraded controller grips, though, which are just a few dollars more.

Moving on through the list, PrismXR Vega T1 earbuds are best for Quest 3 because they offer full 30W passthrough charging so you can keep your Quest 3 charged while playing. And when you're taking the Quest 3 on the go, we prefer KIWI Design's case because it's extra roomy and fits accessories like battery packs as well as your headset.

One of the most fun things you can do with your Meta Quest 3 or Quest 3S is tack on a bunch of extra accessories that help you get even more immersed in your games. Many of these accessories are specifically designed for one or two types of games rather than enhancing your overall experience, but they're still worth a look.

If you're looking for ultimate immersion, a bHaptics force feedback vest will make it feel like you actually got hit while playing compatible VR games. bHaptics vests are compatible with most of the best Meta Quest games, and the company runs an official compatibility list here. It's an incredible experience that's as good as the price suggests, so long as you're willing to spend it.

Folks who love to golf in VR absolutely should consider a golf club accessory. The HelloReal club is the single best golf club accessory for the Quest 3 because it includes a handle-mounted trigger that makes it possible to grip-to-putt or swing on games like Walkabout Mini Golf. That means you can practice swinging without hitting the ball and, when you're ready for the real hit, hold the trigger and give the club a swing.

But if you want to save some money, the Yoges Quest 3 golf club features an adjustable length that helps better distribute the weight than other clubs. It doesn't have a trigger like the HelloReal club but it's roughly half the price and still adds that important weight to make swinging a golf club feel real.
