Fractal Design's Terra brings serious style to small

Fractal Design successfully fuses form and function with its beautiful Scandinavian-inspired Mini-ITX Terra PC chassis. We took a good look during the official unveiling at Computex in Taipei, Taiwan.

At first glance, the case is gorgeously minimalistic, featuring thick CNC-milled aluminium that curves ever so gently at its edges and around the corners. Providing a subtle contrast, the front panel features a small walnut-trimmed panel that also houses the logo-embossed power button and front I/O. Finally, the side and top panels complete the look by featuring ventilated cut-outs providing a much-needed airy atmosphere for the sandwiched components inside.

Measuring in at 343 x 153 x 218mm, with a total volume of just 10.4 litres, the Terra is among one of the smallest enthusiast Mini-ITX chassis on the market today. No need to get your fingers caught in tiny spaces though, as both side and top panels are removable and tool-less, ostensibly for easy accessibility.

There's also a central moveable motherboard spine, allowing for slight adjustments in space between compartments. Specifically, shifting to one side allows for 77mm in max CPU clearance, or 48mm max GPU clearance, depending on what side your rig favours most. Neat.

While the case is designed with CPU air-cooling in mind, there is enough room for a side-mounted 120mm radiator should you opt to go the AIO route. Last but not least, the Fractal Terra allows for up to 322mm GPU lengths, which teeters on the edge of today's ‘average-sized’ triple-fan graphics cards.

Available in three accents including Silver, Jade, and Graphite, the Terra is currently available for purchase in the UK and priced at £174.99. Be sure to watch this space, as we’ve been putting this tiny rig through its paces in our full review.
