Aug 01, 2023Roof damage closes school in Solon Springs, students switch to online learning
Students in Solon Springs will be transitioning to virtual learning for the remainder of the school week after maintenance and transportation director Mark Dahlberg noticed sagging trusses during the school's spring break. It is believed that the sagging was caused by a heavy snow load and ice buildup on a section of the lower roof.
The area affected is located above the main hallway outside of the school office and extends into the commons hallway area. The school is having the roof and trusses inspected by Cooper Engineering prior to students returning to the school.
Students will be able to pick up learning materials on Wednesday between 3p.m. and 6 p.m. Students will then transition to a virtual format and do schoolwork from home Thursday and Friday.
