FRANKFORT, Ky. — The Federal Emergency Management Agency has approved over $2.4 million for the Warren Rural Electric Cooperative Corporation to repair damaged property because of the severe storms, flooding and tornadoes in the area from Dec. 10-11, 2021.
A devastating tornado outbreak caused extensive damage to Warren Rural Electric Cooperative's equipment across its whole coverage area. The damaged equipment included electrical poles, transformers, conductors, anchors, wires and other hardware.
FEMA approved $450,509 for workers regular and overtimes hours, $84,159 for equipment, $640,220 for materials and over $1.5 million for contract and mutual aid work for repairs to the distribution system of Warren Rural Electric in order to return the facility back to pre-disaster operations.
The FEMA Public Assistance is a cost-sharing program. Because of the magnitude of the damages, President Joe Biden authorized a cost share reimbursement of 90% federal funding for the project.
